Wireless Water Sensor Ups Smart Irrigation Data Collection

Palo Alto, CA.8/1/18

Spiio today announced the release of their second-generation wireless water sensor, the SP-110, enabling a new data dimension for smart irrigation in the green industry.

Spiio Ups Smart Irrigation With Second Generation: The SP-110 Wireless Water Sensor

As approximately 70 percent of the water used around the world is for irrigation, and about 60 percent of that water is lost due to evapotranspiration or simply inefficient watering methods, better data is essential to combating water shortages worldwide.

The data from these SP-110 wireless water sensors will make it easier for commercial landscapers, green designers, horticulturists and agricultural growers to use smart irrigation to maintain their projects and make better decisions about water usage.

SP-100 Wireless Water Sensor Features:

• The SP-110 includes four sensors: soil moisture, temperature, light, and nutrients.
• The sensor integrates with various smart controllers on the market allowing for full automation.
• The sensor comes with the highest possible IP grading (IP69K) making it exceptionally durable
• It has a battery life of 5-6 years

The founder of Plant Solutions in Arizona and an avid practitioner of biophilic design, Joe Zazzera is a firm believer in the need to integrate plant life and greenery into workspaces. Biophilic design stresses the benefits of including live greenery in office buildings to counteract the sterile work environment, but one of the main challenges is maintenance.

“There’s nothing more discouraging that trying to connect people with poorly installed or maintained living walls,” says Zazzera. “Using Spiio sensors has enabled us to monitor our living walls remotely 24/7. Having this technology enhances our maintenance skills and fulfills our mission, creating happier, healthier building occupants.”

“Access to more data will not only help us immediately save water in commercial greenscaping, but over time boost the landscape architect’s possibilities when it comes to greening our future data-driven and sustainable super-cities,” says Martin Dal, CEO, and co-founder of Spiio.

The data from these SP-110 wireless water sensors will make it easier for commercial landscapers, green designers, horticulturists and agricultural growers to use smart irrigation to maintain their projects and make better decisions about water usage.
